In 93 (?) my older-cooler-metalhead friend Giannis showed up in English class with his Zorlac skateboad. At the time I was a newly recruit metalhead and G was like the 2-3 years older metalhead that I looked up to in a way. His cousin neighbour or friend don't remember was a kid from the US that had all the cool hard to find shit. He had comics, computer books and all sorts of wizardry. He looked like a young Earle Haley . Anyway my point, the deck was done by Pushead, it was a spider/skull image and it blew my mind. Skateboards skulls spiders and metal , take a sip of that.

That sort of imagery really became a thing for me and i can see it in my art today.

I will come back to my "stories of youth" stuff at another point and in a comicbook form.

Maybe I will tell you about the day we found a dead baby in the dumpster when i was 12-13.

Δύο αντισυμβατικοί καλλιτέχνες παρουσιάζουν το πρώτο και ισως το πιο cool γεγονός του χειμώνα.

Με βάση το πιο underground κομιξάδικο της Αθήνας TILT (Ασκληπιού 37, Ακαδημία). Μια ημέρα γεμάτη με τον εκρηκτικό συνδιασμό Τατουάζ και Κόμικς. Το Σάββατο 5 Νοεμβρίου, για μία μόνο μέρα, από τις 1:00 το μεσημέρι μέχρι τις 8:00 το βράδυ, θα γίνονται τατουάζ από την τον Βασίλη Λώλο και την Miss Norzine , ενώ παράλληλα θα διατίθονται προς πώληση αυθεντικά έργα και αφίσσες των παραπάνω. Ο Βασίλης Λ. θα παρουσιάσει για πρώτη φορά συλλεκτικά κόμικ φιλοτεχνημένα αποκλειστικά για το Tattoo and Comics Event και η Miss Norzine θα παρουσιάσει την νέα της ανθολογία σχεδίων.

Λίγα λόγια για τους καλλιτέχνες.

Η Miss Norzine από τις ελάχιστες σημαντικές γυναικείες παρουσίες του Γκραφίτι στην Ελλάδα , είναι ένα καθιερωμένο όνομα με ενεργή δράση από το 1997.Αναγνωρίσιμη από το Japanese Pop στυλ της δημιουργεί τοιχογραφίες μεγάλων διαστάσεων μέσα στο πρόγραμμα ανάπλασης σχολικών κτηρίων (Carpe Diem) στην Λ. Αλεξάνδρας πίσω από το Γήπεδο Παναθηναικού ,8ο Δημοτικό Παγκρατίου , 2ο Πειραματικό Γυμνάσιο Αθηνών, στο Σταθμό Αττικης στα Κεντρικά γραφεία Λιοσίων , στο Ξενοδοχείο Baby Grand Hotel κ.α. . Παίρνει μέρος σε διάφορες εκθέσεις όπως Βαβέλ, Ιανός ,URBAN ART Ι, ΙΙ και BIKEART Exibition Carpe Diem. Φοιτώντας στην Καλών Τεχνών, μοιράζει τον χρόνο της ανάμεσα στο Γκραφίτι και το Τατουάζ.

Γόνος γνωστής καλλιτεχνικής οικογένειας με Μητέρα και Γιαγιά Ζωγράφο (Ε. και Γιάννα Περσάκη) και έχοντας σαν Παππού τον γνωστό Ποιητή Μίλτο Σαχτούρη δεν δισταζει να πειραματιστει με κλασσικες αξίες σε μοντέρνα μοτίβα. Για όσους αναρωτιούνται, το Norzine(κρατώ την ευτυχία και τύχη) δεν είναι παρατσούκλι αλλά το πραγματικό της όνομα που οφείλει στο Πατέρα της Τζαμιάν από το Θιβέτ.

Ο Βασίλης Λώλος, γνωστός στους περισσότερους από τα κόμικς που δημοσίευε στο περιοδικό "9". Πέρασε το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της προηγούμενης δεκαετίας στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου συνεργάστηκε με τους μεγαλύτερους εκδοτικούς οίκους κόμικς (Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image) και κατόρθωσε να πάρει τα δύο μεγαλύτερα βραβεία της αμερικάνικης σκηνής, το Eisner για την ανθολογία "5", και το Harvey ως ο καλύτερος πρωτοεμφανιζόμενος καλλιτέχνης για το graphic novel του "Last Call", που κυκλοφόρησε από την Oni Press και πρόκειται στο άμεσο μέλλον να γίνει ταινία απο την Universal. Πρόσφατες δουλειές του είναι το Εξώφυλλο των Last Drive (Heavy Liquid) και το Concept Art στα βίντεο των My Chemical Romance (Danger Days: the true lives of the fabulous killjoys) καθώς και τα on-line comic του στο website του Αμερικάνικου Mtv.

Οι δύο είναι τα μέλη του Tattoo Team Hearts and Swords οι οποίοι κατοικούν και σχεδιάζουν στα Εξάρχεια.

Ο χώρος θα είναι ανοιχτός σε όλους όσους αγαπούν την τέχνη και ιδιαίτερα σ' αυτούς που θα ήθελαν να αποκτήσουν ένα έργο τέχνης πάνω στο σώμα τους. Ως γνωστό, το φθινόπωρο ενδύκνειται λόγω καιρού για να κάνει κάποιος τατουάζ και να αποκτήσει κάτι εξαιρετικά ιδιαίτερο. Οι δύο καλλιτέχνες υπόσχονται ότι θα δημιουργήσουν ενα μοναδικό έργο στο δέρμα του κάθε τολμηρού.

Για όσους δεν τα πάνε καλά με τις βελόνες, θα υπάρχουν ανέκδοτες δουλειές του Βασίλη και της Norzine (κόμικς, αφίσσες, πρωτότυπα) προς πώληση. Σημειωτέον ότι είναι η πρώτη φορά μετά τις επιτυχίες του στην Αμερική που ο Βασίλης Λώλος θα εμφανιστεί δημόσια για να υπογράψει παλιά και καινούρια έργα του και να συζητήσει με τους έλληνες φαν του τις εμπειρίες του από το εντυπωσιακό ταξίδι του στο χώρο της αμερικάνικης βιομηχανίας των κόμικς. I started a post about comics just now but ended up weird. So I deleted that shit and now I am writing this.

I have a shitload of things to do, none of them satisfying in any way (maybe in the long run?) and all I want to do is draw some fukken comix.

Or just art in general, you can't have too much of one thing all the time, shit tends to go stale.

Good news is that I found a place that does mini comics for a surprisingly low amount of $ (compared to other places in Greece that is, don't get any crazy ideas it hurtz to selfpublish) So pretty soon I'll be setting up my store online and start to send the good word all around.

Man. These days I feel like a 30yearold 20yearold. Which is not entirely a bad thing coz this time around I got some extra EXP points.

Also, today i tried on a new perfume, messes with my head every time i strike my thinkers pose. 2 much on the wrists.

I first saw this playing on an outdoors TV at some village in 84-85? What I first saw while eating my "pink pointy finger" icecream lolipop was the 15 kids around the TV. Then the sound came. Team Diamond (as they called themselves) brought possibly THE worst dubbing in the history of anything. I bought the tape later in the 90's and with a friend of mine tried to decode what the fuck was going on.

For instance. "Hee-bog" is a cyborg. "TIL! TIL!" is "Ti les - Ti les!" (what say you, what say you) "DOKTO-O KODEE-TS!" Is "Doctor Cody" And that's not even the tip of the shit iceberg. The acting (more like reading) is the worst.The The guy runs out of breath mid sentence and gasps for air like a fish outta sea. And EVERYBODY has a speech impetiment alongside some bizarro accent. My guess is some sort of Cyprus thing going on. The story is pretty shitty too, some kid makes a warcraft type of Mech, and insert bogus science the shit becomes real. He is the only one that can pilot it , surprise, and some evil Doctor with glass stuck on his face is evil.Motherfucker is pissed about some essay that someone stole WHEN THEY WERE STUDENTS. Now he has a secret base on the moon seeking revenge. VERY well thought out script. No holes , really. So yea, he also has this pool with a garbage disposal grinder fit in it. Some naked chic gets it in the beginning of the movie. I wonder what sort of plumper got that job.

This is the worst. And the best.

Most nerds that play videe games have a special game of their own in their head that it's the shit. I for instance have several in my head that trully are the shit. Now some actually go the distance and make their own games instead of thinking/talking/blabbing about them.

This game called January by Ritch Vreeland it's more of a mood type game and not a story type game (kinda like "indie" comics, zzing), you basically walk around catching snowflakes with your tongue. Each flake caught makes a different sound as he puts it: "January uses a set of predefined musical rules to make choices about what the next note (or notes) will be, while also giving the player the freedom to choose when notes will be played, and the ability to make distinctions between different types" Not bad and I really dig the simplicity of it. Now , on the other hand CANNABALT first off, the games' initial screen reads "best enjoyed with headphones on" which I guess is internets lingo for "smoke weed and *some sort of recreational action*"

This game rules, it was the first thing I got for my Ipod touchie. It's a sidescroller and all u have to do is jump and avoid shit to a sweet soundtrack. The perfect timewaster, you can play it on your computer for free on their website. The mouse/pad/trackball clicking is not as responsive and pressure sensitive as the ithis&thats touchscreen.

New blog new direction and what a better way to celebrate then setting some artwork free.The blog will be taking a new turn, where pretty much anything goes.

Somewhere in 2002-3 I had an idea for a comic, a Frankenstein tale set in a Metropolis world. It was about a boy that had his heart stolen by an evil witch. He had to claim his self back from the owner of his heart. A quest troubled by the fact that he was in love with her (coz she was the owner of his heart, literally, har har)I did many takes on that idea, a couple of shorts and a load of illus. Then I put it on the back burner.

In 2004 after meeting up with Rick Spears on the internets, I pitched him a couple of things for his publishing company Gigantic, a couple of different pitches but nothing really stick. He knew of my "Frankenstein" story and offered to write it for me. So "Valentine" was created.

A project halted and never completed, mainly because of Pirates of Coney Island (the irony). I will revisit this story at some point and take it from the top, but that not something that's going to happen soon.

So here it is, the 2004 version of my Freak-estein story in its 80 paged unfinished glory. I still have an extra 10-15 pages somewhere that I will update the PDF with eventually.
